The Story:

Have you ever wondered where the name “27 Shot” comes from?

Short answer: it’s coffee-related! I grew up drinking coffee, and my first three jobs were as a barista in local coffee shops. While I already loved coffee, working with it every day deepened my passion and knowledge.

Now, you might be wondering what this has to do with photography. Well, some of my favorite things about coffee are the social aspects, the richness of the drink, and the art of pulling espresso.

Coffee is often enjoyed in the company of close friends and family, shared in intimate moments that create space for conversation and meaningful interaction.

Though many think of coffee as bitter, when made correctly, it can have a rich depth of flavor that’s surprisingly sweet.

Pulling espresso is a fine art. Each step-grinding, weighing, distributing, tamping, and pulling- affects how the shot will turn out. If any step is off, the shot’s timing and taste will change drastically. The perfect shot is said to be 27 seconds, and that’s what I always aimed for— a perfect shot.

So, the name “27 Shot” reflects my deep love for coffee and my passion for creating perfect shots. Not only that, but my aim is to create space for stress free, meaningful moments that don’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
